John O'Brien

John O'Brien has worked with homeless people and those at risk of homelessness for more than thirty years. For the past thirteen years John served as the Executive Director of the Shattuck Shelter-Center for the Homeless and the Executive Director of the Friends of the Shattuck Shelter. The Shattuck Center is a public/private partnership that provides emergency shelter, support service programs, HIV/AIDS programs and permanent housing options to 300 women and men each day. He has also served on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Massachusetts Housing and Shelter Alliance (MHSA), the statewide advocacy group for homeless individuals, the Board of Directors of Boston Health Care for the Homeless and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Commissioner's Task Force on Homelessness. John is a Vietnam Veteran and lives in Somerville, Massachusetts.
